Sketching on Elephant Island
Sketching on Elephant Island at Point Wild is moving. This historic and difficult-to-land-on rock became a life saving refuge in 1916
for Sir Ernest Shackleton and crew during the epic failed Endurance expedition which turned into one of the most heroic stories of
survival and rescue. There is a monument to the captain of the Chilean tugboat that finally was able to rescue these
men. (photo by Daisy Gilardini)
